Peter & Paul
Combining generations and styles.
The Winzerhof Hoch exists since 1640 and nearly as long the two Saints Petrus and Paulus (Peter & Paul) are the patron saints of the winery. Their home region in Hollenburg differs fundamentally from the surrounding wine growing regions. The soils are characterised by a unique geological formation: the Hollenburger Conglomerate with its very own flora and fauna.
The goal of the Hoch family is to create inimitable wines with aging potential, wines that are easy to drink and fresh yet profound and individual. “With the methods of the past and the knowledge of today we should be able to realise this!”, the Hoch’s are convinced.
Peter & Paul wines are thus a cooperation of 2 generations of the Hoch family, Harald and his son Christoph. “Peter” is a symbol of Austrian traditions, “Paul” one of a more natural vinification. 80% of the volumes are vinified in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts, 20% in large wooden barrels, spontaneously fermented without additional sulphites and with long aging on the lees, a more oxidative style. The result: lively, organically certified wines from vital vineyards in a vivid ambiance.
